I personally have come to believe that motivation comes and goes, so I don’t use motivation to keep me going to the gym. Motivation may have been what got me there, by listening to David Goggin videos etc.., but it isn’t what keeps me going. For me, it was mainly the principles of discipline, consistency and perseverance.
Let’s look at the definitions of each of these principles:
Discipline: 1. : to punish or penalize for the sake of enforcing obedience and perfecting moral character. 2. : to train or develop by instruction and exercise especially in self-control.
Consistency: the quality of always behaving or performing in a similar way, or of always happening in a similar way
Perseverance: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
I have found most people quit before the miracle happens. The main reasons I see people quit in life is because they lack discipline. Most people want the results without doing the work. Building the physique of your dreams doesn’t happen over night. In fact, for some it takes several months or years. The point is there are no hacks. It will require faith and patience which most people lack. The biggest excuses I hear are, I don’t have time or it’s hard. Life is hard whether you do it or not! I choose not to regret not doing it. I spend an hour a day in the gym, most people spend more than an hour a day on social media scrolling down the endless rabbit hole of video shorts, tweets and FaceBook. We ALL want instant gratification for the work we put in, but I have found, the reward comes from the delayed gratification. The best time to start your journey is NOW. Otherwise, the right time never comes for most.
So pick your hard an commit to the grueling life style change required to achieve your goals. I am here to help people that want it, but not for the people that don’t. I walk the talk, and I get the benefits of the hard work I put into my training. Life is short, make the most out of it.
